OPEN Karachi is the OPEN Global’s first chapter outside the United States and also its first foot-hold into Pakistan thereby helping to strengthen the communication between the North American chapters and all the different stakeholders of the entrepreneurial ecosystem of Pakistan. It was launched in December 2011 after the OPEN Global Retreat where formation of the Karachi chapter was approved by OPEN Global and Dr. Zakiuddin Ahmed was appointed as the focal person to take this responsibility.

Aims and Objectives
The primary aim of OPEN is to promote entrepreneurship and innovation. OPEN wants to train and encourage entrepreneurs through domestic and international programs, varying from seminars and conferences to immersive workshops. OPEN Karachi also want to help develop networking, mentoring, incubation and acceleration programs. Another area is to engage private sources of finance and creation of angel investor networks to provide funding for start-up ventures. Lastly, but most importantly, we want to promote the accomplishments of local entrepreneurs, as role models for others.
OPEN initially known as “Organization of Pakistani Entrepreneurs of North America” was founded in 1998 by a group of Pakistani-American entrepreneurs and corporate executives in Boston. It is a voluntary, not-for-profit organization, dedicated to the promotion of entrepreneurship and business leadership in the Pakistani-American community.
OPEN now has chapters in Boston, Silicon Valley, New York, Washington DC, Houston, Chicago, Atlanta, London and Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.
